Kembleford is in actual fact Blockley, where Father Brown is a priest at St Mary's Church. Father Brown's aim is to solve the many murders in and around Kembleford. The local bumbling police inspector having very little common-sense and often arrests the wrong suspect, tends to become annoyed by Father Brown's antics and successful deductions to solve the cases. Passing off other locations as the same village. Kembleford is actually the Gloucestershire village of Blockley. The series uses the church of Saints Peter and Paul (Church of England) as the St Mary Roman Catholic church. The vicarage becomes the presbytery for Father Brown's permanent house. When is Father Brown set? Father Brown is set in the early 1950s in a Cotswold village. The amateur home detective features in 53 short mysteries between 1910 and 1936.
